It’s funny how what you focus on can become your reality. It seemed like the more I focused on this month’s theme of ‘Pure Plant Bliss’ the more leafy my experiences became. It all started with the idea of interviewing three local ‘plantastic’ ladies for our September edition and for the arrival of spring.

Then I was kindly invited by Dominique Finney (another ‘plantastic’ local expert) to the 7th International Herbal Conference on the Gold Coast a few weeks ago and met some fascinating people (See p3 Bush Medicine story with Vivienne Hansen and Miriam Young’s review of the conference on p8). Then I discovered it was National Herbal Medicines week from the 12-19th  September. Spring really is the perfect time for growth on all levels!

Interestingly, we took this month’s cover shoot at the very magical Maroochy Bushland Botanical Gardens in Tanawha. I was captivated by the tranquil surroundings and it was quite grounding to breathe in the crisp, fresh air for a few minutes…..then I walked only a few metres to find a wonderful quote on the tourist information wall which seemed to encapsulate the intention and sentiments of this month’s edition:

“Gardens offer us something beyond the material world. They provide a spiritual component allowing us to participate in the wonder and mystery of creation.”
