New Moon By Sacha Laing

People often read their stars in the paper when they are looking for answers or even during times of distress. Sometimes this helps them to connect with something greater or to realise that they are not alone.

Astrology is not just about predictions and looking at the planets, it’s also about looking within; the inner is a reflection of the outer and the outer the inner.

New Moon in Taurus 14th May 2010 The New Moon is a wonderful time to focus on the NEW things you want to manifest. It is a time when we have the most energy and can create so much. When we think of a seed and the energy it takes to burst forth through the Earth towards the Sun, this is the force that the New Moon has! Utilise it! As the Moon grows, we see our intention taking shape and it eventually reaches its full potential as the Moon is full. As the Moon wanes, we look within to assess and then we reach the Dark Moon, where an inner stillness prevails.

During a New Moon, it is a great time to put some processes in place to utilise the new energy. A great New Moon ritual is to write down the new things you want to bring into your life on a piece of paper. The next step is to burn the piece of paper or place it in water, then put the ashes or wet paper somewhere, such as the garden or somewhere that has lots of light and love. Focus your intent on the theme of the
astrological sign the New Moon is in and as you see the life of the plant flourish, so too will your intention.

The New Moon in Taurus is connected to our resources and our ability to build on our ideas. It is the first earth sign of the zodiac with a strong connection to all of our earthly pleasures, making it a time to connect with others and indulge a little! It is also a fantastic time to enjoy the stillness of nature and meditate on our connectedness to our Mother Earth. When we see the strength of resources our Earth has, with its ability to overcome so much, we realise our own strength. And in this strength we can create so much in our lives by realising our own fertility. With this new moon in Taurus, look to your own resources, the inner and the outer, and like tending to a garden, cultivate them and
turn them into a reality.

It is also a time where those fantastic ideas have enough ground work to propel themselves out into the world. The flip side is that if not enough ground work is done to support them, the plans may come crashing down. This New Moon in Taurus also sees a transiting mutable T- Square, with Jupiter and Uranus conjunct in Pisces opposing Saturn Retrograde in Virgo, with each squaring Venus in Gemini. All in all a T – Square is about balancing two opposing energies and the tension they bring by squaring a point, that is used as an outlet of expression. We may at this time be trying to balance our ideas with our ability to actually make them happen and this could have a lot to do with the
breaking down of old structures with new ideas. We could see all this energy play out in our relationships with a particular focus on how we communicate and our thought processes towards each other.
