Lately I have been in awe of the concept of seeds. Seeds are tiny little packages of energy available to us and have huge amounts of potential depending on the nurturing provided and care given. Seeds are a catalyst for growth, change and the beginning and ending of existence. They can transform societies, feed one or many, clothe people and beautify the planet.
Seeds amazingly contain an entire blue print for a living form. They are tiny components of life that contain all the information needed, size, shape, structure, the colour of the flowers and the taste of the fruit.
Sometimes the smallest seeds, the size of dust will grow the largest plants. Some have wings to fly, some stick to others and are carried, some need to be digested first, some need fire to be opened.
I am always reading books but occasionally one book will grab my attention, and I will brazenly cast aside the others. ‘Anastasia’, the first of the ‘Ringing Cedar series’ was one of those books. The series describe the living circumstances of one woman completely in harmony with nature. Interestingly, one section contains her thoughts on seeds. Seeds to her are tiny gifts of combusted energy that are to be interacted with.
She suggests that each seed we plant will grow in conjunction with the interaction with the external environment. Analyse the toxins, draw on the nutrients, not just the air, water, sun and earth, but also the intention, and then form appropriately. The suggested planting method is to place your seeds under your tongue before planting. The seeds will take on your chemical make-up and grow with the perfect amount of nutrients for your system. Perfect. Sound farfetched? Possibly. To me it makes perfect meta-physical sense. Seeds can fly.
So it gives me hope when I see how many ‘seed for life’ projects are happening all around the world. ‘MINES FOR VINES’ is one in Afghanistan where the farmers have begun replacing the ten million land mines, with fruit producing grape vines (as were previously grown before the war).
Then there is Katie Stagliano the eleven year old from the States, who started with one seed and has donated 4,000 pounds of home grown vegetables to the needy, and has inspired a project that will see more coming. Love inspired seeds… inspiring us all.
Next time my friends and family come to visit, they may just find me greeting them with a muffled hello and a mouthful of seeds. I encourage laughter but also support, as I experiment with this.
