Cameron and his team from ‘Spicers’ reckon they’ll be the winners. But Chris’ team from ‘Pomodoras’ have a few tricks up their sleeves. That’s if Peter and the ‘Wild Rocket’ team don’t steal the glory…
It might be a competition but it’s all in the name of fun. What’s at stake? A bit of pride and the Food & Beverage Cup – a funky sculpture designed to be displayed in the winning team’s restaurant or café for the
next 12 months.
The Food & Beverage Cup is really about hospitality teams coming together to provide entertainment and demonstrate their support for the Sunshine Coast Hinterland’s bid to become a recognised food destination.
It’s part of the Real Food Festival, to be held from 29 – 31 July. The Festival is a celebration of the wonderful variety of food that Sunshine Coast producers, manufacturers and restaurants have to offer, and a brilliant way to talk, taste and buy from them. The various demonstrations, events, discussions and other activities throughout the weekend mean that the Festival has something for everyone and is a great way for people to support the best of Sunshine Coast food.
Festival co-director, Julie Shelton, believes the Real Food Festival will offer visitors a different take on food. “We’re bringing together over eighty stallholders, chefs, producers, nutrition experts, food growing advisors and many more, all at the one place at the same time,” said Julie.
“We want people from around south-east Queensland to come and have an authentic food experience: eat good food close to where the ingredients are produced, and prepared by people who live in the region,” she said. The weekend includes plenty of opportunities to roll up your sleeves and get growing, making and cooking. A range of day and half-day activities will be held throughout the Sunshine Coast Hinterland on Saturday, with a Real Food Celebration being held at the Maleny Showgrounds on Sunday.
Co-director, Lena Smeaton, encourages visitors to come along to the Festival, meet the chefs, taste the food and have a fun weekend. “It’s a beautiful region, with a relaxing ambience that will leave you feeling refreshed,” said Lena.
