Why Dog Listening?
There are so many training gadgets around today; clickers, electric collars, citronella collars, bark collars, muzzles, prong collars, check chains, and many more.
As well as using these bits of equipment, there are different ways of training; ‘make him do it’, ‘endless repetition’ ‘obedience classes’, ‘boot camps’ to name just a few.
Do these training methods work? Yes, to a certain degree on some dogs, but not all and unless we continue using these training methods, most dogs will eventually revert back to the behaviours that took us to training in the first place.
Some training methods inflict unnecessary pain, confuse dogs and owners and sometimes even make matters worse.
The one thing that is consistent is, it is unnatural to make an animal work against its natural instinct.
Over the years, I have used many of the above methods but nothing comes close to Dog Listening for ongoing success.
What makes Dog Listening any different?
Dissatisfied with what I had previously learnt and constantly searching for a kinder method, I stumbled upon Jan Fennell, author of “The Dog Listener”. I now hold a Certificate in Advanced Canine Communication and teach others in the privacy of their own home, to communicate with dogs using the language they understand – “Canine Language”
Dog Listening is not a ‘training method’, it is an holistic way of communicating with your dog based on Trust & Respect.
If used calmly and consistently, your dog will elect you decision maker of his/her own free will.
Dog listening is extremely effective when dealing with problems such as: aggression, fear, obsessive or destructive behaviour, failing to come when called, pulling on the lead, jumping up, persistent barking and separation anxiety, because you will be talking in your dog’s language. Your dog will learn to modify behaviour according to the information he/she is given.
Dog Listening is not a magic wand, it is up to you to do your part.
I choose to use this method because it is kind, calm, a way of life, it works and it’s totally natural.
I dedicate myself to not only helping dogs but helping owners to understand their dogs.
