Imagine acres of lush green pastures with an abundance of organic produce; a gift from mother earth that has been untouched by conventional processes and chemicals. Isn’t this what nature had in mind for us all along?
Kookaburra Organics’ is not only an award winning family farm, established for over 8 years in Conondale on the Sunshine Coast, it embraces these back to basics principles and leads by example in the community.
The farm was lovingly designed and produced by Gary and Paula West with the desire to create a healthy life, whilst minimising the impact on the earth. At the same time, the West’s have always been passionate about enriching the health of others with clean, organic food.
Over the last few years Paula and Gary have set up a home delivery service (www.malenyfarmersmarket.com.au) and are currently the largest, local Home Delivery service of clean produce on the Sunshine coast. The added bonus to this service is you are purchasing from the farmer and it’s delivered by the farmer. Their philosophy and processes are 'paddock to plate’ in the truest sense.
The farm uses only proven sustainable practices such as bio dynamics, permaculture, composting and mulching are used constantly. Many of these processes are taught to a number of local and international visitors who participate in the WWOOF programme at the farm.
At Kookaburra, a wide range of “inseason” certified organic vegies are grown including: kale, spinach, silverbeet, broccoli, cabbages, lettuce,
beans, snow peas, potatoes, herbs, garlic, ginger, galangal, Jerusalem artichokes, mulberries, bok choy and rocket.
Kookaburra farm also produces clean, 100% natural honey and their locally grown garlic is highly sought after by chefs Australia wide. Paula West who is also a prominent health practitioner on the Sunshine Coast says, “Our health begins with the food we eat! Organic food is naturally nutritious and full of Nature’s vitamins and minerals. Importantly, it is all grown with sustainable practices so you can be confident of lessening your carbon footprint whilst enjoying great health.”
